In step 1. Regulations of the banner creation path, you must select the vendors to be added to your banner, for each regulation covered. You must then link the vendors to their purposes.
Didomi allows you to create your own purposes (this is what we call custom purposes). This is useful if you don't want to link one or more of your vendors to IAB TCF purposes.
*Note that even non-IAB vendors in Didomi's database are linked to IAB TCF purposes by default.
Once created, your custom purpose will be visible alongside the IAB TCF purposes, as part of the vendor creation step.
Create your custom purpose
You can create it directly from the banner configuration or in the Data Manager.
Create a custom purpose from the classic banner configuration:
- In step 1. Regulations, you can modify the vendors and purposes for each regulation.
- In the vendors section at the top of the page, click on Add a new purpose to create your own purpose.
- This takes you to the same configuration area as described in the next section (creation via the Data Manager).
Create a custom purpose from the Data Manager:
- Click on Data Manager in the left-hand menu of your screen. (1)
- Click on Purposes. (2)
- Click on Add purpose + in the top right-hand corner. (3)
This takes you to the configuration area for your new custom purpose.
4. Regulation settings:
Select the regulations for which this purpose is to apply. You can check them all at once, or select certain regulations in particular (GDPR, CPRA, CPA, etc...)
Keep in mind that if you want a custom vendor (= vendor created by you) to appear correctly, then its custom purposes must have been applied to the correct regulations when they were created.
5. SPI:
You can define your custom purpose as an "SPI" (Sensitive Personal Information).
This is a visual aid in the Didomi console.
6. Advanced Settings:
Custom SDK ID: you can associate this new purpose with a pre-existing ID.
This is particularly useful if you're migrating and need to link a previous CMP and the data that will be collected by the new Didomi CMP.
7. Translations
Make sure to translate your custom purposes in all the languages you will need for your banner.
Attach your custom purpose to a vendor
- To link your customized purpose to a vendor, remain in the Data Manager (1).
- Go to the vendors section (2).
3. Click on the Edit icon (3) for the vendor where your custom purpose has to be added (or create a new vendor (3 bis)).
4. In the fields marked Purposes based on consent and/or Purposes based on legitimate interest, you can search for and select your custom purpose.
5. Click on Save.
6. You'll see your purpose in your consent banner, once you've added the vendor you've created.
Custom purposes are not mapped to IAB purposes and are not shared with vendors on your website if you use the IAB TCF framework. For ad-related purposes, we strongly recommend using IAB standard purposes to simplify compliance.
